We are a Title One supported facility. We receive federal funding to provide after school educational tutoring.

Kenny Dixon
Kenny Dixon
Executive Director

Kenneth B. Dixon holds a Master of Arts in Organizational Management from Ashford University and is currently the Executive Director at Seacoast Youth Academy. He has over 10 years of experience working with youth with severe and persistent behavioral and emotional issues at both a Residential Treatment Facility and Group Care Level III Facility

(Formerly High Management Group Home). He previously served as the Director of Operations at Seacoast Youth Academy and has been with the facility since opening the doors to High Management Care in March 2007. He is a certified Crisis Prevention and Intervention Trainer and has significant training in Trauma Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

LaVonda Knox
Richard C. Christian M.ED.
Clinical Director

Christian (as he likes to be referred to), brings with him a great deal of experience in the areas of residential treatment, community based behavioral health counseling services both in the private and public sectors. He was one of the early pioneers in school based Rehabilitative Behavioral Health Services and served as the Director of Clinical Services in Horry county South Carolina schools for over 7 years.

Pursuing his dream to establish mobile therapy services for children and families in South Carolina. Christian, organized and developed “Justice Works Behavioral Care” and served as the agencies first Executive Director. Justice works provides an array of services under the RBHS umbrella to children and families in several eastern SC counties receiving referrals from authorized state agencies with services being reimbursed by Medicaid. He has built relationships with many State Directors of children’s services and has a keen understanding of the protocols and best practices for children in placement.
We are excited to have Christian as part of the Seacoast team and look forward to the additional benefits his expertise brings to the Facilities much valued referral base.

Bret Moon
Director of Education and Facilities Management

Bret Moon has been with Seacoast Youth Academy since January 2007. He has served in many roles at Seacoast, to include Direct Care Staff, Clinical Day Teacher, Title I after school tutor, Title I Liaison, Food Services Liaison, Director of Facility Management, Director of Human Resources, and finally, Director of Education and Special Services.

Before coming to Seacoast Youth Academy, Bret worked for three years as the Director of Facility Management at an un-named behavioral health facility. Bret Moon has his Bachelor of Arts from the University of South Carolina- Coastal. He is currently attending Liberty University, seeking to complete a degree in Masters of Art and Teaching, with a specialization in Special Education, by 2014.

Gayle McCandless
Director of Risk Management, Quality Assurance, and Infection Control

Gayle McCandless has her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and is the Risk Manager/Registered Nurse at Seacoast Youth Academy. She has over 19 years of experience working with an array of Behavioral and Mental Health Patients.

She is a Certified CPR, AED, and First Aid Trainer for the American Red Cross. She is also certified in DRG Assurance and Clinical Documentation. Gayle also is a Coordinator Diplomat of ABQAURP and has been devoted to Seacoast Youth Academy since August 2009.

Nicole Bennett
Director of HR, AP & Payroll

Nicole Bennett has been employed by Seacoast Youth Academy as the Director of HR, AP & Payroll since October 2014. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from Bloomsburg University, Bloomsburg, PA. She grew up in King of Prussia, PA before tiring of the snow and moving to sunny Myrtle Beach in 2014.

Nicole joined Seacoast with over 15 years of experience in Human Resources, 8 of them in the healthcare field. She has always loved working with children and focuses on hiring staff who care for the children of Seacoast like they care for their own.
