Seacoast Youth Academy Names Travis Small Executive Director

Travis Small was recently named Executive Director of Seacoast Youth Academy. With four years of experience working at various key positions at Seacoast Youth Academy, Small brings a vast amount of knowledge and experience to this position.

He received his undergraduate degree in Sociology from Coastal Carolina University in Myrtle Beach, SC. He played football at Coastal and as a native of South Carolina has been recognized by the ‘The State’ as one of the top 150 high school football players in South Carolina. He has since attended Ashford University and attained a Master of Arts in Organizational Management.

Seacoast Youth Academy is part of the Meridian Behavioral Health family of treatment programs for children and adults. Meridian’s VP of Southeast Division, Kenny Dixon states, “Travis is an excellent choice for Executive Director of Seacoast, he is an advocate for doing what’s right for kids and has consistently excelled and leading others to do the same.’ Travis’ love for working with children is evident in his personal life as well.  He has been fostering a former resident of SYA for several years, with his adoption to the Small family pending finalization any day now.

Seacoast Youth Academy had an exciting ground breaking ceremony.

This expansion is scheduled to be completed by May 2015. The planned expansion will allow space for; 15 more beds, five multi-purpose rooms, new administrative space, and visitor rooms. Several Meridian Behavioral Health Senior Executives were present for the ceremony as well as local and state representation in support of expansion. Kenny Dixon, Executive Director stated, “We are thrilled to begin the process to expand our services and have the ability to serve more youth in need.”

Immediate and long term expansion plans for Seacoast Youth Academy

Meridian Behavioral Health System is excited to announce the immediate expansion of four beds with plans of adding another 16 to meet the growing needs of the children and families they serve. New construction for the 16 beds is scheduled to begin in August for the state of the art expansion.

Executive Director, Kenny Dixon stated, “The staff and I at Sea Coast Youth Academy are thrilled that we have the opportunity to provide our excellent services to more kids and families”. Kenny went on to say “The new furniture and floors recently upgraded throughout our facilities makes our facility feel like a therapeutic safe haven for children and families receiving care”

Meridian Behavioral Health is pleased to announce they have acquired Seacoast Youth Academy.

Seacoast Youth Academy is a 45 bed Group Care Intensive Services (GCIS) facility licensed by the South Carolina Department of Social Services. Situated on 3 pristine acres, Seacoast is a 10,000 square foot facility, located in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, just 6 miles from the Atlantic Ocean.
